Invent Your Adventure

UPDATE June 21, 2021

Thank you for your partnership as we collectively enable responsible recreation that protects the health of visitors and the dedicated parks staff.

Since the lifting of the Regional Stay at Home Order in January 2021, State Parks has reopened almost all campground sites, day-use public outdoor areas, and indoor facilities such as visitor centers and museums. A few units and group campsites remain closed due to COVID-19, wildfire impacts or other issues.

Reservations for campsites and lodging can continue to be made on this website at least two days in advance (48 hours) prior to arrival or six months in advance from the current date. It is important to note that the demand for camping and lodging sites sometimes exceeds the available inventory. As such, the public is advised to plan ahead, do some research and have alternate parks in mind in case the first choice is booked.

State Parks will continue to use a monitor and adapt strategy to meet any new guidance it may receive from local and state public health officials as COVID-19 is still present and still deadly, especially for the elderly, immune-compromised and the unvaccinated.

Whether you are an experienced outdoor enthusiast or a new one, we look forward to seeing you in California's park trails, beaches, mountains and the deserts but ask that you recreate responsibly. Please visit parks.ca.gov/COVID19 to view the latest set of visitor guidelines, such as when face coverings are required.

Welcome to ReserveCalifornia™

Welcome to ReserveCalifornia™. With 280 park units, California is home to the largest state park system in the nation. In an effort to enhance the experience of our visitors both online and in our park units, California State Parks launched a new reservation system dubbed ReserveCalifornia™ on Aug. 1, 2017.

One key difference from the previous reservation system and the new one, is that we moved from a block or on-sale day reservation period to a rolling window. This means that you can reserve campsites and lodging six months in advance from the current date. Detailed information about this new feature and others can be found in our FAQs section of this website.

New Enhancements

Bots: Security features were installed to reduce the opportunities for 'bots' to access reservations and negatively impact the availability of campsites and tour ticket opportunities.

Search Functions: The calendar view now gives you the option to pick available dates for next weekend, furthest arrival date, or select a date. Picking the type of rental desired has also been simplified. You now have the option to select the type of rental such as camping, group camping or hook up camping

Modifications: Our visitors can now only modify their reservations up to two times, with the exception of Crystal Cove Beach Cottages where no modifications are allowed.

Third Party Vendors: Reservations are for personal use only. Any resale, transfer, use, for profit activity, or memberships that are not approved in advance by California State Parks are strictly prohibited and will be subject to immediate cancellation without notice, refund or reimbursement. You may also not be allowed to make any reservations or open new accounts. There are currently no approved vendors to operate as third party partners.

Travel Ideas

Our parks are loved by many within and outside the state of California. Sometimes the demand for our camping and lodging sites exceeds our inventory. Plan, do your research, and have alternate parks in mind in case your first choice is booked.

California State Parks has something for everybody - year-round. Whether it's hiking, biking, strolling on a beach or cross-country skiing, state parks has it all. You can walk through the redwoods, sail on a lake, view wildlife, explore the desert, see history first-hand in historic sites, and just relax with family and friends.
